It was great to see @Filomena Pascoal and husband Paulo at the São Martinho, Silver Coast meetup yesterday. She came bearing gifts, including Língua de Gato (cat's tongue biscuits) enjoyed by our kids, and a 'device' made locally to her (in Miranda Do Corvo, near Coimbra), pictured. What is this grey item on top of the beautifully embroidered tablecloth? And what is its purpose? --- Thank you Filomena. See you Friday for some Portuguese linguistic and cultural education. Is there someone who sells it? Go across the street and cut it down? Have it delivered? How about finding someone to do some house keeping, cleaning a pool or gardening? Is there a directory? a bulletin board? or is it by word of mouth ( in a language we can't understand yet). :) Just a few questions we may have.
