How the 8-Week Alternate Picking Intensive Works (Starts Tomorrow)
We start tomorrow, so I want to give you a clear map of how this 8-week Alternate Picking Intensive is structured. The daily work is 60 minutes, and it’s divided into three parts: - Single-string picking : This is foundational. Clean, controlled single-string picking is a huge part of solid alternate picking overall. - Two-string picking: This focuses on adjacent strings and string crossings between close string pairs. - Multi-string picking: Anything that goes beyond two strings: larger patterns, position changes, and wider range lines. Each of these three parts gets 20 minutes per day, and each 20-minute block is broken into four 5-minute exercises. That gives you a total of 12 short, focused exercises per day. One important thing: You do not need to do this in one sitting. You can split it up however it fits your day: - 60 minutes in one go - 3 × 20 minutes - 4 × 15 minutes - Even short 5-minute blocks if that’s what you have What matters is that you get through all the exercises during the day. That’s where the results come from. Using a timer is key here. It keeps you focused, removes overthinking, and makes sure you actually do the work instead of drifting. As long as you stick to the exercises and the focus points I’ll give you, your alternate picking will improve significantly.
