The Crash is Real. But Hopefully, So is the Comeback. 🌟
Temperature check. How are we doing? How are YOU doing? And when was the last time you shut off the news for three weeks straight? For those of you that have been checking in since the summit, I just want to say thank you. I cannot overstate the importance of caring for yourself (or trying to, anyway) following the inevitable crash after huge exertions of energy, brainpower and honestly, mental stability like this. Once the magic of being surrounded by likeminded individuals that share your vision of a liberated existence for all, not just some, begins to fade... Things can get dark. Really, really dark. Full transparency, this is why I actually hated DEI consulting. It wasn't for me. The idea of putting every skill, strategy and instruction manual I could recount into a bucket with holes in the bottom was depressing. Unfulfilling. And obviously, ineffective. One thing the summit did do for me, however, is show me how much I've grown my network, my audience and my community. The rooms were buzzing. Our guests were shining. The audience was equal parts captivated and catalyzed to go out there and do their part—even if it would take the rest of their lives. I'm still processing it all. And you can forget about any elaborate post-summit upsell scheme because I have nary a spoon for anything remotely strategic. I'm trying to just find a few to get The Reparations Race 4th Edition on the map so I can now REALLY dig into my purpose, which has become even more clear to me since the summit—as in, I understood MY assignment. And that's to help changemakers generate the money they need to make the impact they want to make without burnout, without fancy titles, without having to bend to the will of performative socio-politics. To those waiting for me to excitedly follow up with next-steps and save-the-dates, I promise they are coming. All of what I'm writing here is really barely scratching the surface on the fatigue I'm recovering from. But for once... It isn't fatigue from trolls or the walls burning down around me.

Neuro-inclusion and how to 'work with me'
Hello. REALLY enjoying the DEI Summit, so much wisdom and many more gems. During the latest session: 'Intersectionality and Neuro-Inclusion in the Workplace and Beyond', I shared a tool I use with my teams and @Erin Corine Johnson asked me to share it here. The tool was developed by Claire Hughes Johnson and is called "work with me" and you can see a version of it here. You can also find it in her book 'Scaling People'. In the context of the panel conversation it was clear to me that this tool can go waaaayyy beyond its intended use into the very heart of accessibility and getting people what they need in workplaces.

How Was Your Weekend?
I spent a lot of my weekend attempting to catch up on some work-related things I fell behind on but felt like I was wading through molasses. 🙃 Still, I did get some things accomplished, even if it didn't feel like enough, so I'm acknowledging those wins! The highlight of my weekend was probably seeing the Thunderbolts* movie with my family (huge Marvel fans) on opening night (in the U.S.) on Friday night. I expected to be entertained, but what I wasn't expecting was to tear up! We were all very surprised and impressed that a mainstream action movie like this chose to focus on addressing mental health & just did a really nice job with it. Let's hear what you got up to this weekend, and what you have going on for the week ahead!

My thoughts are with you and your family @Stacy Casson its a beacon hearing that his transition was one of laughter and, I venture, love.
Day 4 Takeaway in One Word: Community.
Circular economies, bilateral communication, cyclical personal and professional growth, radical rest in spaces held by safe people... Today was a lot of reinforcing the theme of the week: None of us can do this alone. I can hardly believe our first Accomplice Accelerator summit is coming to a close… But I also would be lying if I said I wasn’t ready to hang out with some turtles, dogs and goldfish in the mountains this weekend But there’s still work to do—and closing day is going to be a powerful conclusion to an unforgettable and emotional week or community-building, solution-sourcing and healing during these difficult times. What was your top takeaway from today’s conversations?

"I am in service to others, when I am in service to myself." "Let people be wrong about you." (Arlan) and also the R.E.S.E.T. framework! Thank you for everything @Erin Corine Johnson you are...
