My heart fluttered to life once I saw it! Without touching it at first I sent out a cautious but curious "Hello", no words just energy. Hello... The sensation was both alien and familiar, like a distant dream I could almost remember. The feeling just hit so hard, that i grabbed it and hugged it hard. I almost could’ve died but I’d rather be alive. It's presence was inviting me to give in, and even if my gut screamed at me that it was a dead end of a love story, It was slowly becoming irresistible... I squeezed it just a little harder and it bit me!!! "Ouch" I screamed, "Little bastard" I mumbled to myself... My daughter Elsie walked in the room "What did you do?" She asks with a curious look on her face. "Hush little one"... I whispered, "Some things are meant for my eyes and my eyes only". Elsie crossed her arms, watching me with that sharp, knowing look only children seem to master. "I wanna know what you are holding! Tell me what it is!" Intense puppy eyes and her demands broke all my defenses. Without thinking, just overcome with emotion, she turned and let her daughter see what had made her heart flutter. She said nothing, just held it out for Elsie to see. Her eyes widened as confusion slowly crept onto her face. It's real form hidden, Elsie was faced with a bizarre mirrored version of herself but much smaller and uncanny in its almost but not full copy of her features. Elsie's breath caught sharply, her eyes darting from me to the tiny reflection, "Mama...why does it have my face?" she whispered, her voice trembling with an uneasy mix of awe and fear.
