🏆 🌟 Poem of the Week Winner! 🌟 🏆
A huge congratulations to @Melissa Poetrylpls for being selected as this week's Poem of the Week winner with her inspiring piece, "My Style My Way." Melissa's poem is a wonderful reminder that poetry doesn't have to fit inside a box. It celebrates finding your own voice, embracing creativity, and writing with authenticity. Those are values we love to see here in The Art of Poetry. Congratulations, Melissa! Thank you for sharing your talent and inspiring our community. We can't wait to see what you write next. Choosen by Timothy Lenhart Please join me in the comments and give Melissa a well-deserved round of applause! 👏🎉✍️

Kathleen, thank you for sharing this. I really like the honesty in your poem. It feels genuine, and that's something readers connect with. One suggestion would be to add a little more imagery in a few places so we can see and feel what you're experiencing instead of being told. You have a strong foundation here keep writing, because your voice is starting to shine through. Great job!

Sometimes it isn’t about who we were It’s about who we became in the process They never asked how much it hurt They never want to know how many tears fell How many years wasted dwelling per sufferable action They only want to hear us say we’re okay Not because they don’t care Because they can’t answer honesty Lost to time is what our emotions become Ignored and unchecked Lost to the cold snow We seem to wander forever Each print a memory of our last moment with the one we called our person Maybe it isn’t about the memory Maybe it’s about the appreciation Maybe it’s about the pain we felt in the moment Maybe it’s everything we never saw Maybe it’s what we never believed In the end it’s what we ignored A simple mistake or misuse can divide a country What can it do for the ones we love Only allow them to show we aren’t worth the ticking seconds provided by the holy one

🖋️ I Have an Idea... But I Need Your Honest Thoughts
I've been kicking around an idea that has me genuinely excited, and before I run with it, I want to hear from you. What if, for 30 days, we didn't write our own poems... What if we wrote one poem together every day? Each day would begin with a single opening line. Then, one by one, members of our community would add a line until the poem felt complete. At the end of 30 days, we'd have 30 poems—not written by one poet, but by The Art of Poetry Community. Then we'd professionally publish the collection as a book, with everyone who participated recognized as contributing authors. To help cover editing, formatting, publishing, and production costs, there would be a $10 participation fee. Every participant would be credited as a contributing author and receive the finished eBook. This wouldn't be my book. It would be our book. So here's my question... Would you participate for $10? Do you think this is something you'd look forward to each year? Would you enjoy helping create a book that belongs to an entire community instead of just one author? Be honest—I truly want your feedback before I decide whether to bring this idea to life. Who knows... this might become a tradition unlike anything else in the poetry world. 👇 I'd love to hear your thoughts. This is something I don't think has ever been done before.
150 Forms of Poetry – Day 3: The Triolet
Welcome to Day 3 of our 150 Forms of Poetry journey! Today's form proves that sometimes saying something more than once can make it even more powerful. 📜 History The Triolet originated in medieval France and became popular because of its elegant use of repetition. Though it's only eight lines long, it can leave a lasting impression. How It Works A Triolet has: 8 lines Only two rhyming sounds Repeated lines that create a musical rhythm. The pattern looks like this: A B a A a b A B Line 1 is repeated as lines 4 and 7. Line 2 is repeated as line 8. The lowercase letters rhyme with their uppercase counterparts. Example The morning sun begins to climb, Its golden light renews the day. Each heartbeat keeps a steady time. The morning sun begins to climb. Hope blossoms softly, so sublime, And worries slowly drift away. The morning sun begins to climb, Its golden light renews the day. Today's Challenge Write a Triolet about hope, change, or a memory you can't let go of. Don't be afraid of the repeated lines. Instead, let them grow stronger each time they return. Share your Triolet in the comments, encourage another poet, and let's keep expanding our creative toolbox.
