I'm going to make my moodboard about my next body of artwork, which I've been stalled on for a few months. My feeling word is "Awe."

@Jane Harbison Yes- the theme I'm working with is "Sky Like Mind." Its from a Buddhist teaching.
What do you do for a living?
What do you do during the week for work? If you no longer work what did you use to do? For many years I was an accountant/commercial manager. It was only at 40 that I returned to a creative field (where I should have been all along). I started by doing an intensive graphic design course and I loved it. While I was finding my creative feet, I served on independent school boards. It was in these roles I got to experience what good working relationships between men and women can achieve. Your turn.

I am a certified Wholistic Neurogrowth Learning Success Coach- I coach clients online of any age who are struggling to achieve goals, either in school or in later life, or they are stuck in a major life transition. Its a nervous system-based coaching system that looks at every aspect of the client's physical and mental environments, and clears the obstacles to a life in flow. I also teach part time in the art department at Cochise College: Beginning Painting for Personal Development, 2D Studio Art, Art History Survey. I also teach online art workshops! The next one coming up will be "Drawing and Painting Meditations."
Interesting results from the red cabbage dye workshop!
Here are pics of my results from yesterday, and also side-by-side shots from my first round of dyeing. The results are surprising! I'm excited to do more experiments! Since the baking soda gave more of a green, I'm going to try adding much less- starting with a teaspoon rather than a tablespoon next time. ;-D That might be the ticket to a cool blue. On the comparison pics, the first round of dyed silks are on the bottom, and the second round of dyed fabrics (1 silk, and 3 wool) are on top. The yellow tint of the wool warmed up the color quite a lot. And the shibori resist-dyed piece was quite a surprise! It looks orange instead of pink, and the stripes are blue instead of white (!) What a beautiful surprise~! Such a different result on the wool compared to the silk, using the exact same dye recipe.

@Jane Harbison I know~ i was really surprised, but I should have known to expect something different because of the color of the wool. You could also use gray wool and get even darker huesโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Jane Harbison The polyester in the fiber wonโ€™t absorb the dye as well as the cotton, but with an 80% cotton content, you will see some color, if you follow the scouring/tannin bath/mordanting steps. It shouldbe an interesting result! Also, I forgot to add in the video that scouring can be done in your washer if you set it to the hottest setting and expand the soaking time to 30-45 mins.

What is your favourite vegetable?
I have been talking vegetables in this group (cabbage) and in another group today (broccoli) so I thought I would ask you: 1. What is your favourite vegetable? 2. What memory does it evoke for you? No least favourite vegetables - just favourite!
