Hands on Arabic
I figured I'd take Tony's concept for hands on Spanish and apply it to Levantine arabic. I started cutting out some cards with a few questions. Here is "when do you go to work? I'll probably do this for the 20 opi questions. I included the English pronunciation on the front of the cards until I get better at reading arabic.

Why did you choose leventine? I might have to choose a dialect one day.
My Egyptian Friend in NYC Says Hello!
While practicing some Arabic street interactions, my new friend says مرحبا (Mar7aba) to @Jack Mason and @Christopher Lewis, and everyone in the Skool Community (or doesn't). I said 'Zack' instead of 'Jack' because in my mind it was conflated with 'Izzayak?' -- Egyptian Dialect for 'How are you?' -- Sorry Zack, I mean Jack. A testament to how the mind does weird things in the heat of Real Life language interaction.

I said Izzayak once in Saudi Arabia and got a really dirty look.

🇭🇰 Side Quest: Speaking Cantonese in New York City
As a personal Language Learning Challenge, I want to see what can be done in terms of speaking Cantonese (Gwang Dung Waa) in New York City over the course of a few days. If anyone knows any Cantonese, please feel free to give me tips. I'll share videos in this post of any Real Life interactions I'm able to have, good, bad, ugly, or beautiful.

I’m keeping as far away from Cantonese as possible. It’s closer to Thai than to Mandarin and always gives me a severe headache.

@Andrew Willimott yeah I can’t tell the difference between those two.

I’ve been a bit shy with these lately as I know how far off my reading/ pronunciation is.
