I like to be transparent about my earnings because I want you to see that creating an additional income stream is possible—even if you have a busy life. I still work a full-time job. I'm also a mom to a young child, and like many of you, I have a lot competing for my time. That's why I love self-publishing. Once a book is created, it can continue working for you long after you've finished writing it. 📚 Paperback & Ebook Results - Lifetime Royalties: $68,057.75 🎧 Audiobook Results - Audible doesn't make it easy to calculate lifetime earnings because I'd have to download and total every royalty statement individually. However, based on my historical average royalty earnings per sale under the previous royalty model, I've had nearly 17,000 audiobook sales/downloads, which puts my estimated audiobook royalties at roughly $60,000+. 💵 Combined Estimated Lifetime Earnings - Books (Paperback + Ebook): $68,057 - Audiobooks (Estimated): $60,000+ - Total: Over $128,000 in approximately 3 years Is that enough to replace my day job today? No. But has it helped create more financial freedom, additional income, and opportunities that wouldn't have existed otherwise? Absolutely. The biggest mistake I see people make is waiting for the "perfect" time to start. Every month you delay publishing is another month your future books aren't out there working for you. Imagine where you could be 1 year from now if you started today. What Book Earnings Milestone (PER MONTH) Do You Want to Hit?

That’s awesome! I published my first book (beyond low-content journals, etc) at the end of last year. It wasn’t fully mine though, it was 100th anniversary edition of a book that has been published many times by many people. It’s the first in a string of books I plan to write over the next 5-ish years. They’re all related and the community I created here is focused on the principles of the books. I haven’t had any big sales of my book, but it does continue to sell. My idea is that the whole ecosystem I’m building will support each element of it and eventually it will be selling a lot more than it is now. Only time will tell!
The Best Time to Start a Skool Community Is Now
One thing I think people are going to regret is NOT starting their own Skool community sooner. When I got started back in 2024, there was no $9 Hobby Plan. I’ve been paying the $100/month plan ever since. I could downgrade now, but honestly, the affiliate feature alone has been worth keeping because it gives members an incentive to share your community and bring in new people. That has absolutely helped this community grow. Another thing I’m noticing? Skool is investing heavily into helping communities get discovered on the platform itself. Right now there’s still opportunity because the platform isn’t completely oversaturated yet. The earlier you build, the easier it is to establish momentum before thousands more communities flood in competing for attention. Now obviously I’m not a Skool insider, but personally, I wouldn’t be shocked if the $9 plan doesn’t stay around forever. If you can lock that pricing in now, there’s a good chance future-you will be happy you did. So if you’ve been thinking about starting a community… stop overthinking it. Yeah @Greg Junge @Todd Rosenthal @Vicky C @Lisa Jeffries - I'm talking about you 😉 Open the group. Start posting. Start building relationships. Start learning the platform. Why wait when it’s only $9/month? ➡️ START YOUR COMMUNITY NOW

@Krista Brea I looked at starting one before, but the $9 plan is what kicked me over the line. It gives me time to make it profitable.
Is this brilliant or what?
I came across this video on Instagram. As someone whose business is social media marketing I rarely have a business card. I use the Blinq app with a QR code to connect but once I've finished my book I think I may just get some bookmark business cards.

I’m moderating a panel at a women’s convention at the end of the month and it was recommended to me to create a card (like postcard size) using the cover of my book as one side and putting some info on the back, kind of like a business card.

@Hannah Janeth I'm definitely more for simple design!
Choosing a writer’s alias?
Hey there! I’m curious about how one chooses an author’s name. I don’t want to publish all the books I write under my name, only one! lol So how does one choose a self-publishing name? All those who use an alias, do you have a different one for each book genre? Also, feel free to let me know if I'm overthinking this lol… I tend to do that!

@Krista Brea That's awesome!
It worked the way it's supposed to!
I just wanted to share that for the very first time tonight I had a call with someone because they found me through my book! It was the first time someone’s gotten on my calendar that I didn’t have any previous knowledge of (usually I know who they are). When I asked how he found me, it was from reading my book. I feel like I’m way more excited about it than I should be, but also I’m relishing in the moment!
