The Pause Between
Hi Everyone 👋 There's a moment between a thought arising and your reaction to it. It's tiny. So easy to miss. That moment is where everything changes...... The Peaceful Path isn't about stopping thoughts. It isn't about emptying the mind. It's about finding that gap. That pause. That breath. Today, just notice it. You don't have to do anything with it. Just notice. Breathe in. Breathe out. In that space, peace begins. With Love Always Mark

The Protection the Buddha Gave
Hi Everyone 👋 There's a story most people haven't heard. A group of monks went into a forest to meditate. A real forest. Real snakes. One of them was bitten and died. The others went back to the Buddha and told him what happened. They expected him to move them somewhere safer. Or hand them a charm. Or tell them which herbs to burn. He said.... go back. And before you sit down, offer this to every living thing in that forest. Not just the harmless ones. Every creature. The snakes. The scorpions. The ones you can't see. The ones you're afraid of. Then he gave them these words. Sabbe sattā, sabbe pāṇā, Sabbe bhūtā ca kevalā, Sabbe bhadrāni passantu, Mā kañci pāpamāgamā. All beings. All living things. All creatures, without exception. May they all see good things. May no evil come to any of them. That was it. That was the protection. Most people looking for protection want armour. A wall. A circle to stand inside while the danger stays outside. Something to say that makes the bad thing turn away. The Buddha gave the opposite. He didn't hand them a shield. He handed them a softening. Because the thing that harms us most is rarely the snake. It's the hostility in our own chest. The fear that makes us strike first. The division we carry that turns everything else into an enemy. When you wish a creature well, even the one you're afraid of, you stop being its enemy. Often that ends the fight before it starts. Not always. But in the way that matters. If you want to use this, here's how. Say the four lines. Slowly. Out loud if you can. If Pali isn't for you, say it in English. Before you sleep. Before you leave the house. Before the meeting you're dreading. Before the conversation you know will be hard. And when you say "all beings," mean it. Name the ones you're afraid of. Name the ones who have hurt you. Name the ones who might. It looks like the opposite of protection. That's only because we've been taught protection is force. The Buddha taught it was non-harm.

@Mark Lawrence I personally observed something that deeply stayed with me. A monk near my palace lives close to the forest, where tigers are also present. In fact, tigers are often seen near his hut. Yet, the monk remains calm and does not seem to live in constant fear. https://www.instagram.com/reels/DMm5dvIR-Dg/

Todays Mantra Sabbe Sattā Sukhī Hontu
Hi Everyone 👋 There's a line in Pali that's about as simple as a sentence can get. Sabbe sattā sukhī hontu. May all beings be happy. You don't have to be Buddhist to say it. You don't have to believe in anything at all. It's a wish. That's all it is. Notice what it doesn't say. It doesn't say may the good people be happy. It doesn't say may the people who agree with me be happy. It doesn't say may my family be happy and the rest can sort themselves out. It says all beings....... Everyone. Which means the person who cut you off this morning. The one who hurt you and never apologised. The one you'll never meet. The one you can't stand. And you....... You're included in that word...... All beings means you too. That's the hard part, if I'm honest. We'll happily wish happiness on a stranger before we'll wish it on ourselves. We'll offer it to a child without a second thought. But to ourselves? We hesitate. We think we haven't earned it yet. Say it anyway. Out loud if you can. Say it for the person you love most. Say it for someone you're struggling with. Say it for yourself last, and really mean it. Four Pali words...Five English words. Nothing fancy. Nothing that requires faith. Just a wish, sent out into the world. With love ❤️ Always Mark

A new book has found its way into the world…
Hi Everyone 👋 There are moments in life when we search everywhere for somewhere to feel safe. A different place. A different relationship. A different life. A different version of ourselves. But perhaps, eventually, we discover something quite different. Perhaps the place we have been searching for has been within us all along. Today, I'm very happy, and perhaps a little emotional, to share that The Sanctuary Within is now live on Amazon. This book grew from a simple question... Can we find a place of peace within ourselves, even when the world around us isn't peaceful? It is a journey through the places we carry inside us, the memories, wounds, love, grief, questions and quiet hopes that make us who we are. It is about learning to listen. Learning to soften. Learning to sit with ourselves rather than constantly trying to escape ourselves. And perhaps most importantly… learning that we don't always have to become someone else to be worthy of peace. Sometimes we simply need to come home. The Sanctuary Within. A place to pause. A place to breathe. A place to remember who you are. ❤️ The book is now available on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HJVYX4HD For $ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0HJVYX4HD For £ https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0HJVYX4HD For € And I'd love to ask you something: Where do you go — physically or emotionally — when you need to feel safe? With Love ❤️ Always Mark
