Often riding in a show doesn't go as well as riding at home. We tend to blame the fact that we're at a show for why things didn't go well. If the training at home is correct, the test becomes a natural expression of the work we have done at home; proof of patient, correct daily work. If you want to show or not, the aim is always the same: To develop a horse that is balanced, strong, proud and confident, and a rider who can support that process with clarity and feel. Whether that work is seen in the show ring or carried out quietly at home, it doesn’t lose its value because dressage training improves both horse and rider. Do you agree?
