Where Are You in Your AI-Ready Financial Coaching Journey?
AI is quickly becoming part of the financial coaching environment. Our clients are already using it to ask questions about budgeting, credit, debt, homeownership, investing, and other financial decisions. The question is no longer simply, “Are you using AI?” The better question is: At what level have you started integrating AI into your financial coaching practice? Are you currently using AI to: - - Prepare for client sessions? - - Develop stronger coaching questions? - - Summarize notes and identify possible patterns? - - Create personalized worksheets, action plans, or follow-up resources? - - Help clients think through financial decisions? - - Support accountability between coaching sessions? - - Improve your training, presentations, or program design? - - Or are you still exploring where AI fits and how to use it responsibly? I would love to hear what you are doing, what you are experimenting with, and what questions or concerns you are encountering. I have also developed several AI-enhanced financial coaching applications, and I am looking for a small group of practitioners from this community to serve as beta testers. As a beta tester, you will have an opportunity to: - - Explore tools created specifically for financial coaching practice - - Apply them to realistic coaching situations - - Provide feedback on what is useful, what needs improvement, and what practitioners actually need - - Help shape tools that support the coach’s judgment and effectiveness while keeping the coaching relationship human-centered Drop a comment and tell us two things: 1. - How are you currently using AI in your work? 2. - Would you be interested in becoming a practitioner beta tester? Even if you are just getting started, I want to hear from you. This community should be a place where we learn from one another and help define what responsible, human-centered, AI-enhanced financial coaching looks like in practice.

A client taught me something important today.
Today I had a discovery conversation with a woman who reached out because she said she needed guidance that she wasn’t getting from her current network. She wasn’t in financial trouble. She pays her bills. She’s saving. She’s consolidating retirement accounts. She’s thinking about marriage, children, and buying a home. From the outside, many financial coaches would probably say… “She’s doing great. She probably doesn’t need much coaching.” I reached a very different conclusion. She didn’t need more financial information. She needed financial integration. She needed someone to help her connect multiple good financial decisions into one intentional strategy. That realization reinforced something I’ve been thinking about for a while… We’re entering a new era of financial coaching. Many future coaching clients won’t come because they’re in crisis. They’ll come because they’re making progress. They’re trying to answer questions like: • Which goal should I pursue first? • How do these financial decisions fit together? • Am I overlooking something important? • What’s the smartest next move? • Should I use ChatGPT to get my financial questions answered without revealing too much of my personal information? That’s not crisis coaching. That’s momentum coaching. 🤖 And here’s where AI becomes incredibly powerful. AI can organize information. AI can surface patterns. AI can identify blind spots. But a coach helps someone make confident decisions about the life they’re trying to build. Today’s conversation reminded me that our job isn’t simply helping people get out of financial trouble. It’s helping people build financial momentum and the best way to make that happen and how much should AI be a part of that process? I believe that’s where the future of our profession is headed. Question for the community: ❓Have you noticed a shift in the clients you’re serving? ❓Are more people looking for clarity and coordination rather than rescue? ❓What are your clients saying about AI and their money?
The Biggest AI Trend Financial Coaches Should Be Paying Attention To
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been paying close attention to what’s happening across banking, fintech, workforce development, housing counseling, and financial coaching. Here’s the biggest insight I’ve taken away: AI is not replacing financial coaches. It’s changing what great financial coaches need to be great at. Major financial institutions are investing billions into AI. Consumer financial apps are becoming conversational. Advisors are using AI to prepare for meetings, document client interactions, and uncover insights faster than ever before. But here’s what’s interesting… None of these organizations are eliminating the need for human relationships. They’re investing in technology that helps practitioners make better decisions. That reinforces something I’ve been developing for our profession: 👉🏾 Human-Centered Intervention. 👉🏾 AI-Enhanced Decision Intelligence. The future of financial coaching isn’t about becoming an AI expert. It’s about becoming an AI-ready practitioner. That means using AI to strengthen the decisions we make before, during, and after every client conversation while keeping the coach at the center of the transformation process. Over the last few days, I’ve been developing a framework I’m excited to share more about soon: The 7 Decisions Every Financial Coach Must Make. Instead of organizing coaching around tools or competencies, it organizes our work around the critical decisions that determine client outcomes. Questions like: - What am I really looking at with this client? - Why does this behavior keep happening? - What breakthrough conversation needs to happen? - What’s the next best coaching move? - How do I sustain momentum? I believe this is where AI becomes most valuable, not by replacing our judgment, but by helping us prepare better, recognize patterns more effectively, and coach with greater confidence. 🗣️ Discussion Question Where do you think AI has the greatest potential to improve your work as a financial coach?
