One focused hour today beats three distracted ones. Let's go! πŸ’ͺ
Good morning team β€” πŸ—£οΈ SPEAKING TASK OF THE DAY (Part 2 β€” Cue Card) Describe a piece of technology you find useful. You should say: - what it is - how you learnt to use it - how often you use itand explain why you find it so useful. (You have 1 minute to prepare and make notes, then talk for 2 minutes.) Band 6 model: "I'd like to talk about my phone. I use it every day for messages, maps and music. I learnt to use it just by trying things and asking my friends. It's useful because I can do many things in one place." Band 8 upgrade: "I'd like to talk about my smartphone, which has become indispensable to my daily routine. I picked it up intuitively, mostly through trial and error, and now I rely on it for everything from navigation to staying in touch. What makes it so valuable is that it streamlines countless tasks into a single device." - indispensable = absolutely necessary (stronger than "useful") - picked it up intuitively = learnt naturally without instruction - streamlines = makes a process simpler and more efficient πŸ‘‰ Record yourself for 2 minutes, then drop your answer in the comments! ✍️ WRITING TASK OF THE DAY (Task 2 β€” Opinion) "Some people believe that technology has made our lives more complicated rather than easier. To what extent do you agree or disagree?" Skeleton: 1. Intro: paraphrase the statement + state your position clearly. 2. Body 1: reasons technology simplifies life (speed, access, automation). 3. Body 2: reasons it adds complexity (overload, dependence) β€” then weigh up. 4. Conclusion: restate your stance, no new ideas. Examiner tip: Don't sit on the fence. "To what extent" questions need a clear position from sentence one β€” vague answers cap you at Band 5–6 for Task Response. - 🎯 Lower levels: write a strong 2-sentence introduction that paraphrases and states your opinion. - 🎯 Advanced: write the full essay (250+ words) in 40 minutes. πŸ“– READING TIP OF THE DAY β€” True / False / Not Given The trap: "Not Given" means the text neither confirms nor contradicts the statement. Don't use outside knowledge or guess from "sounds true."

@Ayu Masruroh Well done ! you've taken a clear position and you've held onto it throughout the essay, which is exactly what the examiner wants to see. Your ideas flow logically and your examples are relevant and well-placed. Your vocabulary is working well, especially when you write about information overload and dependence on technology 🀩 I can see you've been building that topic-specific lexis, and it shows. Now, here's where I want you to push further. Watch out for word repetition β€” vary your language, because the examiner is looking for range. Also, don't just make a point and move on. Develop it. Ask yourself why and so what before you finish each paragraph. Finally, go back and review your grammar and word choice carefully β€” πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“there are a few small errors that are holding your score back. Overall though, this is a solid, well-structured essay. You're showing real control of the task, and I'd place this at Band 6.5

Yesterday, I downloaded Kindle because teacher @Ellen Chamilothoris recommended it. Today, I just finished reading On Writing by Stephen King. Do you have any book recommendations, teacher, or anyone else?

🌟 IELTS Daily β€” Wednesday JUne 17 -Let's get one rep in today. πŸ’ͺ
Morning team! Small daily reps beat last-minute cramming every time. Let's get one rep in today. πŸ’ͺ 🎀 Speaking Task of the Day (Part 2 β€” Cue Card) Describe a place you visited that left a strong impression on you. You should say: - where it is - when you went there - what you did there - and explain why it left such a strong impression on you. You have 1 minute to prepare (make notes) and 2 minutes to speak. Band 6 snippet: "I went to a small mountain village last summer. It was very quiet and the air was clean. I walked around and took some photos. It made me feel calm because there was no noise from cars." Band 8 upgrade: "Last summer I stumbled upon a tiny mountain village that was off the beaten track. The air was crisp and the silence was almost therapeutic. I spent hours just wandering and snapping photos, and it stayed with me because it offered a real escape from city life." - stumbled upon = found by chance (natural, idiomatic) - off the beaten track = far from popular tourist spots (great topic-specific idiom) - almost therapeutic = strong, precise way to say "very relaxing" πŸ‘‰ Record yourself for 2 minutes, or drop your answer in the comments. I'll give feedback! ✍️ Writing Task of the Day (Task 2 β€” Opinion) Some people believe that tourism does more harm than good to local communities. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Skeleton: 1. Intro β€” paraphrase the topic + state your position clearly. 2. Body 1 β€” main benefit/harm with one developed example. 3. Body 2 β€” the opposing or supporting view, developed. 4. Conclusion β€” restate your stance, no new ideas. πŸ“Œ Examiner tip: Don't sit on the fence. "Agree/disagree" essays need a clear position held consistently. Vague answers ("both sides have points") cap your Task Response at Band 5–6. - 🟒 Lower levels: write only the introduction (2–3 sentences) with a clear opinion. - πŸ”΅ Advanced: write the full essay in 40 minutes (250+ words). πŸ“– Reading Tip of the Day β€” True / False / NOT GIVEN
🌟 Daily IELTS Boost
One small step today beats a cram session next month. Let's go, team! 🎀 Speaking Task of the Day (Part 2 β€” Cue Card) Describe a place in your city you like to visit. You should say: where it is how often you go there what you do there and explain why you like it ⏱️ Take 1 minute to prepare notes, then speak for 2 minutes. Band 6 sample opening: "I want to talk about a park near my house. It is very big and has many trees. I go there every weekend to walk and relax. I like it because it is quiet and the air is fresh." Band 8 upgrade: "I'd like to talk about a sprawling park just a stone's throw from my house. I make a point of going there every weekend to unwind, mainly because it's a tranquil escape from the noise of the city." sprawling = covering a large area (better than "very big") make a point of = do something deliberately and regularly tranquil = calm and peaceful (better than "quiet") πŸ‘‰ Record yourself or post your 2-minute answer in the comments! ✍️ Writing Task of the Day (Task 2 β€” Opinion Essay) Some people believe that children should learn a foreign language from their first year of school. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Skeleton outline: Intro β€” paraphrase the question + state your opinion clearly Body 1 β€” your strongest reason + example Body 2 β€” your second reason (or a concession + rebuttal) Conclusion β€” restate opinion, no new ideas Examiner tip: Don't sit on the fence vaguely. "To what extent" questions need a clear position in the introduction AND conclusion β€” examiners penalize essays where your opinion only appears at the end. 🟒 Easier goal: write just the introduction (2-3 sentences). πŸ”΅ Full goal: 250+ words in 40 minutes. πŸ“– Reading Tip of the Day: The "Not Given" Trap True/False/Not Given questions love to bait you with things that sound reasonable but aren't in the text. Mini passage: "The Arctic tern migrates annually from the Arctic to the Antarctic, a round trip of roughly 70,000 km. Researchers tracking the birds found that they rarely fly in straight lines, instead following wind patterns to conserve energy."

@Ayu Masruroh You answered all parts of the cue card and maintained your speech for almost two minutes, which is a positive sign. Your ideas are generally clear and well organized. However, there are several grammatical errors that affect accuracy, particularly with articles, verb forms, and sentence structure. Try to expand your ideas further, especially when explaining why you like the place, and focus on using more precise vocabulary.Upgrade opportunities Upgrade opportunities Instead of: "important thing" Use: useful information interesting topics academic materials research articles Instead of: "release my emotion" Use: unwind clear my mind relieve stress relax mentally I'd estimate this response at Band 5.5

@Ayu Masruroh You're absolutely right that multiple-choice questions can be one of the most challenging question types in both the Listening and Reading tests. The main reason is that the wrong answers often sound very similar to the correct one and are designed to distract you. In Listening, try not to choose an answer as soon as you hear a keyword. The speaker may change their mind, correct themselves, or mention several options before giving the final answer. Always listen until the end of the relevant section. In Reading, focus on understanding the writer's main idea rather than matching individual words. The correct answer is often paraphrased, while the wrong answers may contain words taken directly from the text. My advice is to practice eliminating incorrect options first. If you can confidently remove two wrong answers, your chances of choosing the correct one increase significantly. Keep practicing β€” multiple choice becomes much easier once you learn to recognize the common distractors IELTS uses.
