My take: If you answered "traditional/classic" to both - grab a Rider-Waite-Smith deck. It's not special, but it's practical. Most books and lessons use it as the reference point. If you answered "speaks to me/excites me" - buy the deck that makes you want to actually use it. You can always learn the traditional meanings later. The real secret?
