Doc film exploits
As per recommendation, I am contemplating going to see if there’s any dvd store. I googled any dvd shops, expecting to find them all permanently closed since 2015 kr some shit, kanti, y’all look what I saw below (and apparently on google meals this is around a 23 minute drive from where I stayed. Guess they’re not as extinct as I thought 😅 You were right, @Jonas Marcel to say I am shocked is an understatement Update: @Jonas Marcel hi and hello everyone. I’m afraid in terms of getting more interviews, the deadlines might need to be extended. I say that because the car I am driving has been having problems that prevent it from driving properly and driving at all tbh. So depending on how long it takes for the car to be fixed, me filming more footage and interviews will have to have an extended date (s). I won’t be able to get it to you by next week Monday. Apologies for the delay. I hope everyone can understand

Hi everyone. Don’t know if anyone saw the edited uodates on this post. Everyone probs has busy lives sk maybe that’s why but I just wanted to clarify if you haven’t seen, I’ll need to postpone filming more interviews for the doc film cause my car has been having troubles and unfortunately finance is tight to warrant uber, so once the car’s been fixed I’ll make a plan but for now I’ll need to extend deadline for collecting new videos and footage. Initial deadline was next week Monday but won’t be able to do that. Oh, and thanks @Belthla Clara for the response/shout-out

Oh and the Barbie film by Greta Gerwig and Ryan coogler’s sinners are making compelling cases to be part of my top 3-5 😜

Hello @Josephine Landertinger Forero ! Welcome to the filmmaking journey. With the types of things you’re drawn to exploring in cinema, sounds like you’ll make some great cinema. Speaking of themes of motherhood dunno if this’ll be relevant but I recently finished a horror film named The Babadook. It’s an Australian film, directed by Jennifer Kent (now I wanna watch the Nightingale thanks to this film). It’s a psychological horror movie about a single mother reeling from losing her husband and father of her child, and struggling to raise him. Then her and her son find a book in their home (it always starts with a book 🥴) called The Babadook and soon… very strange and spooky things happen. It’s about grief and motherhood, and pretty much about the trials and tribulations of mothering a child after loss of a loved one. As you can tell I’m a lover of cinema and a cinephile 😅
TEAM HOGWARTS OR LORD OF THE RINGS
@Njabulo Mpungose i LOVED your opinion recently: @Jonas Marcel I’m team Hermoine Granger, that much I know. She’s iconic! Ron and Harry would be nothing, I repeat nothing without her. Their schemes wouldn’t work without her. And rest in peace to Ms Maggie Smith for though Dumbledore was Hogwarts’ principal, Professor McGonagall carried that school on her back and elder wand. what do you love more - HARRY POTTER OR LORD OF THE RINGS and why

Updated Doc Film Exploits
Hello everyone! 👋As some/a lot of you know, I've encountered an obstacle via DaVinci Resolve quitting unexpectedly. After many failed solutions I've attempted, I've decided to edit my doc film on CapCut. And honestly, I've made great progress. I've even incorporated the different perspectives/interviews of people when it comes to Where DVDs Have Gone. I even edited 6 more minutes this week alone, having editing around +- 2 more mins of new aspects of the film last week Friday. I dunno how in our next session to go about integrating fixing the DaVinci issue and showing what I have newly edited. @Jonas Marcel as requested, in our next session, I'll share my screen detailing the full breadth of the issue so you can get a bigger picture. given a short is supposed to be btw 5-30 mins long, I get the sense that my fully finishing the doc film is imminent and upon us. and the prospect of posting the doc film on my socials and by extension putting myself out there with the intent of getting into the industry feels... scary? wonder if it's that thing of in order to achieve your dream, you'll have to do things that scare you. Honestly, with every new step I take in my filmmaking journey, I find new things to be scared of, lol. I was first scared of filming something, I got through that hurdle. Feared reaching out to people to do the interview. Overcame that hurdle. Was daunted by the editing process (still am, tbh). Anyway, wanted to share that. Also I say this as I just finished doing a lengthy assessment for a job application, lol. Fingers crossed that I'll reach the fruits of my labour. Anyway, happy first few weeks of the year everyone. Toodles! PS: @Jonas Marcel I hope I win the 1:1 mentoring session for a month cause I have lots of new questions I need to ask you regarding the intricacies of filmmaking and directing and whatnot. And also everyone, I just got into IT: Welcome to Derry. Oh brother, that show gives me so much jump scares that for the first time ever Pennywise spooks me (and this is coming from someone who read the books twice, watched the first film and didn't finish the second film because of how unscary and therefore boring it was). Those children were doing the good acting, I tell you!

Here's a Part 2 to this thing - One of my recent learnings was film tone, and three ways to achieve it is lighting, camera exposure, and art direction! I decided to try some exposure on my film camera! i was trying this in my room OMG guys, the lightest/overexposed of my camera lighting made the room have a very Toy Story, to infinity and beyond esque feel! And when I did the most darkest and underexposed, it looked so spooky I deadass feared my room could be haunted 🤣 learning these things from studio binder makes me wanna apply them to my own filming. my theoretical learnings and practical learnings sure are complementing each other!
