What should I chose ?
I am in the process of completing my Common App application and have encountered a question regarding the “Start Year” selection. Since I am applying during the 2025–2026 application cycle and intend to begin my studies in the fall of 2026, should I select “2026” as my intended start year? Alternatively, if I were to be accepted in early 2026, would that affect my start year selection?

You’d start fall 2026 unless you request a gap year

📝 Struggling with the Personal Statement? Some Guidelines for You
I know a lot of you are struggling with the personal statement right now. It is one of the most important parts of your app, so I understand the pressure, but most students approach it the wrong way (hence the struggle). So here are some tips: what actually makes an essay stand out? ✅ What admissions officers are really looking for: - A real story — something personal, specific, and meaningful. Not a flex list. - Honest reflection — What did the experience teach you? How did it shape you? - Your voice — No need for perfect grammar or fancy language. Just sound like you. - A clear takeaway — What should we know about you by the end? What direction are you headed? 🚫 Common mistakes that kill a good essay: - Turning it into a resume recap - Faking drama — you don’t need trauma to be interesting - Being super vague — “I learned a lot” doesn’t cut it - Trying to sound impressive instead of authentic 💭 Test your essay: If someone else could write your essay, it’s not personal enough. What’s been the hardest part for you when trying to write yours? Let me know—I’ll reply to help out 🤍

avoiding the resume recap is a big hurdle for me — I’m trying to connect some personal challenges to how I found my main interests, any tips?

@Ivy Wizard Yes, thank you!
🎁 Special Instagram Challenge (winner gets 1:1) — Closes July 8
Hi everyone! Instead of the regular bi-weekly challenge here, I’m doing something a little different… 🎁 I’ve opened up 1 full 1:1 strategy session ($499 value) — plus 2 feedback call spots — to help students map out their college app game plan. As you know, these sessions are normally reserved for students in the MasterPath program — with the exception of the occasional challenge here in our free group. But this time, I wanted to open it up more widely and connect with a few students who haven’t found this group (yet). The more I learn about you, the better support I can offer. 🗓️ The challenge is happening on Instagram — and it closes Monday, July 8, midnight PDT. 👉 Join challenge on Instagram here The instructions are in the post, but here's a recap: 1️⃣ Follow me on IG @theivywizard 2️⃣ Comment BONUS on the latest post 3️⃣ I’ll DM you a short form on Insta — 5 thoughtful (not perfect!) answers about yourself ✨ You can also share the post to your story + tag me for extra visibility. This will replace the next bi-weekly challenge in the group. Can’t wait to read your entries 🤍 Let me know below if you have any questions!
