Professional Background, Expertise & Dream Career
Was just wondering based on @Elina Pinchuk's post about job interviews: What is your professional background? What's your educational journey been like so far? Did you go to college? If so, what did you major in? What are you an expert in? What's your top professional skills? What is your dream career? What do you do at the moment? Will be great to exchange ideas and know the "go-to" people in this community for specific advice in specific career fields 😉

What is your professional background? • My background had always been hybrid (daylight/moonlight). I went the trade route and got my barber/cos license at 17 and worked in the barber/hair industry till I was about 23. I got a publishing deal as a songwriter @ 21 and that took over. 10 years later to day I still work in both entertainment industry and the corporate IT project/product/program management world . What's your educational journey been like so far? • Besides get my license young, I’ve never been a school person. I love to learn but not through an institute given I have ADHD. It’s both an advantage and disadvantage at times but I spend a lot of time on google lol. Did you go to college? If so, what did you major in? • I tried college but it wasn’t for me. At about 25 a colleague pulled me into to project management and I got my PMP and continued project management, scrum, agile and IT / ITIL certifications from there. The PMP was a hard test but I’m proud to have the certification. What are you an expert in? What's your top professional skills? • I am an expert in project management, methodology and framework. I work in business strategy and development, as well as software and systems development lifecycle (SDLC). I work with a mentorship program and provide career development to interns through resume building, verbal/writing skill enhancement, technology familiarity (M365 Suites) and overall corporate administration and execution. I have many skills musically and creatively as well (production, development, graphic design, solution architect, aesthetic curation, composition, branding marketing and advertising). What is your dream career? What do you do at the moment? • My dream career is to build multiple businesses that serve various needs to people both as a product to consume or service to utilize. I also aspire to start a nonprofit for dog rescue and also a nonprofit to provide support services to abuse survivors.

@Benedict Marchand I love animals, especially dogs. They’re truly mans best friend. I’ve rescued two dogs and work with a rescue foundation for abandoned animals.

Who are you? - Hi No Regrets Fam! My name is Vån (pronounced Vaughn) and I am based in New York City and Washington DC USA. What does everyone need to know about you? - I live a very hybrid life as a Project Manager and Business Strategist by day and as a Music Artist, Singer/Songwriter and Creative Curator by night. I wear a lot of hats that I am learning to focus and streamline into a more focused and rewarding aspiration. Why are you here? What do you hope to find here? - I am here because I had an amazing and enlightening conversation with Toby and really appreciate his views on self growth through psychology, self empowerment and work/personal life balance and self respect and independence. I hope to meet other like-minded ambitious individuals to create a space of motivation, inspiration and drive in an engaging community of go-getters! What were you really into when you were a kid? - I was very into music, art, philosophy and pop culture. As well as making, building, and designing things. Where do you feel most at home? - I feel the most at home with people I can trust. I travel A LOT so home is often where I make it. What can you help others with? - I’m very skilled in helping others with professional development & creative direction. But more importantly I’m very empathic and find myself often helping people process their experiences through psychology and philosophy. I’m often the free therapist to my friend family and colleagues lol. What's your superpower? - I would say my superpower is my ability to assess, ascertain and gain new understanding of things to acquire new skills. I like to take things apart just to see how they’ve been constructed to put them back together. I like to make new beautiful things from once broken things. What's been your biggest win this past year? - My biggest win has been tedious ‘shadow work’ in my self growth and learning to set boundaries so I’m not over pouring into people/things that don’t pour back into me. (Ongoing practice)
