Monochrome Colouring Books
Has anyone done one yet? I've been working on mine for a couple of weeks - it's certainly not an easy option despite looking simple enough when you browse through them on Amazon. I've just about got my interior done - it took ages to get the images right, I used a combination of AI generated images plus downloads from Creative Fabrica. Then lots of editing... I still need to do back/front pages etc. And of course an eye-catching cover (hopefully that'll be much easier as it has to be monochrome!) If you've done one of these books I'd love to hear your thoughts...

@Abbie Cornall won't have much time this week as we're going away for a few days soon - but a quick tip, you really need SVG images to get the best quality!
Share your book covers
I love being inspired by others. So let's share one (or more) of our book covers.

@Norah Deay thanks - courtesy of Midjourney and NanoBanana, plus plenty of editing in Affinity šŸ˜„

Arghhh - issues creating a workbook
So I have found an issue that I haven't come across before and I can't work out the solution. I am creating a Life Skills Workbook and I have used Google docs to do most of the formatting. I have then uploaded it to Reedsy, done some extra editing with the format and added in the lines as images (created in Canva). When I export the book from Reedsy as a pdf for uploading to kdp, the largest size I can do is 6" x 9" but I am thinking of a more A4 size due to it being a workbook. I also wanted larger print but Reedsy doesn't seem to give this option. When I view it as a pdf, the questions and the lines are sometimes on different sheets - see the screenshots. I can't edit it in the pdf - I have tried - as the rest of the blocks don't move so they overlap. But it is in the wrong size so I can't see what it would look like in the correct size. The issue may not be there. Does anyone have a solution? A solution where I can see what it will look like in the correct size and can edit the text and lines positions? I know I would be able to see it in the kdp launch previewer but I can't edit it in there if it isn't correct. It's making my head hurt. Normally I just do text so don't have these issues.

Yes I think Canva would be your best bet @Janette Bowhay - I haven't really used Reedsy so don't have a clue about the sizes offered.

How’s everyone doing on their coloring books so far?
I’m still plugging along on my ABCs Coloring Book. I picked a book topic I thought would be easy peasy. I even had a ā€œPLRā€ head start. Then I made what I thought would be a simple tweak to give the book a unique content slant, but it added A LOT more time to the production process I didn’t anticipate. I’m sticking with it 100%, but it’s proven to be an unintended learning experience re: budgeting time and keeping things streamlined, without compromising the customer’s experience. My Desire: Choose profitable medium content book topics I can publish start-to-finish in a week or so. Finding Abbie and this community was straight up Divine Intervention. You guys are amazing role models. You do not navel gaze and ponder all the ways to do something. You are DOERS. I am becoming a delightful DOER too. My ā€œAhhhaā€ Moment: The more books I have under my belt, the more intel I gather on where Iā€˜m most likely to over-complicate and trip myself up. Put in the reps. Build new muscles. Duh, right? Guiding Principle: Gather more reliable data, faster, by publishing MORE quality books. Don’t agonize for weeks and months on ONE book until it’s ā€œperfect.ā€ It won’t be perfect. Nothing is. This is an amazing mind shift for me. I’ve been a self-publishing books student for over a year - I spent a small fortune I didn’t have to get into the ā€œWrite 30K Booksā€ University. I’m always an excellent student, but until two weeks ago, I’d never uploaded anything to Amazon. My first ā€œbookā€ is a cute blank lined Composition book. It’s still in the review process after being blocked LAST week. But 14 months later, I’m finally out of the classroom and into the game! #celebratetheWIN It is exhilarating to observe this shift in stubborn ole me. 7 decades later and I’m finally releasing paralyzing false perfectionism and embracing finishing what I start! Who knew that was even possible? So even though I’m only on damn ā€œRā€ for Robot when I expected to be finalizing my cover today, this exactly where I’m supposed to be. šŸ˜Ž And tomorrow … let the cover designing begin!

I've spent several days putting together my Ink Tracing / Reverse Coloring book... finally got it to a state I'm reasonably happy with - now I just need to write a compelling description, sort keywords and categories and PUBLISH! Just for fun (!) I've also started doing a series of composition notebooks - 2 published so far, more to come...
