Creating a Personal Game
Alright y'all. I have a question. For Christmas this year I wanted to go the extra mile for my little brother, he's 15 and he's a huge gamer. I see so much potential in his life and I want to challenge him to do hard things as he goes through high school and enters adulting. I would have killed for something like this growing up, and I think it would be awesome to connect with him more in this way. I want to create some sort of game for him that we can create check points and a level up system as we focus in on his Mind, heart, and body. I don't want to overcomplicate it, but I'm curious what y'all would do.

Brilliant idea! I think the place to start is with what actions you are trying to encourage. Once you have those locked down you can dig into the mechanics, but you need to start with the goal. I would love to work with you on this. Hit me up and we can chat.
Level Up Celebration
Congratulations @Roger Peters for being the first one to reach Level 3. ๐Ÿ”ฅ You just unlocked the "Full Framework". Also big congrats to @Steve Jeffs , @Mathew Georghiou , @Mitchell Vine , @Alexander Gibson , @Justin Wrzesinski , @Luis Torres , @Dave Faliskie , @Arthur Lau , @Chris Doelle for reaching Level 2. You just unlocked the "Game Mechanics". For everyone still at Level 1, you can get started with the Onboarding to get to Level 2 and unlock the "Game Mechanics".

@Lukas Schmidt yeah, if youโ€™re going to promote this as being powered by gamification, you gotta add some admin tools to really play off that.

@Lukas Schmidt There is a great book that makes your point and shows why you are on the right track trying to fix education. https://www.amazon.com/Weapons-Mass-Instruction-Schoolteachers-Compulsory/dp/0865716692

@Lukas Schmidt Sounds awesome. I would love to talk with you and see how you are doing that. I am using it first for taking repetitive tasks off my plate. It is sort of what you have talked about but not nearly as formalized. I am spending more time showing companies how to get started than I am setting up my own stuff. It's like how the barber has the worst looking hair in town. ๐Ÿ˜‚ My big goal is to use it to convert some tabletop board games I created into digital/online versions.
My example with the exercise of the course!
A survival game where the player is constantly racing against the time left before starving, that has scarce resources. It consists of using scarce resources from a crash to survive and escape an island. There are many possible actions but it is not obvious which can lead to more food, resources or possibilities to escape. Every time you start the scenarios are different and difficulty as well as resources obtained by actions also change every time. Random Game Mechanics used: - Race - Scarce Resource - Push Mole Down, Mole Pops Up
