One of the biggest mistakes I made as a baby Christian was thinking that growth meant effort. I thought if I tried harder, prayed longer, stayed more disciplined, and fixed my habits, I would become the kind of Christian God wanted me to be. I approached my faith like a checklist. ✅ Read more ✅ Pray more ✅ Be more focused ✅ Be more self-controlled But the more I tried to force change, the more frustrated I became. What I did not understand yet was this: God does not call us to manufacture holiness. He calls us to walk with Him. And when we walk with Him, He produces something in us. Scripture calls it the fruit of the Spirit. 📖 Galatians 5:22–23 (ESV) “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” When we walk with God, He works inside of us to produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This is not a menu. It is not a self-help course. It is not something you pick and choose. 🍃 These are not traits we build. 🍃 These are not qualities we earn. They are the result of God’s Spirit at work in us as we remain close to Him. If you don’t take anything else from this message, take this: 🛑 Stop trying to become a “better” Christian. 🚶♂️ Start focusing on walking closer with God. If anger is something you wrestle with, the goal is not to manage yourself better. The goal is to bring that struggle into God’s presence and keep walking with Him through it. If self-control feels impossible, the answer is not forcing discipline through effort or shaming yourself into change. The answer is staying near God and allowing the Spirit to begin reshaping your desires. 🌱 Christian growth is not about becoming more impressive. 🌱 It is about becoming more formed. You don’t grow by trying harder. You grow by walking closer. 📚 Want to go deeper? If you want to understand what each of these fruits actually means, how they apply to real life,
