Maisy has been in our life since 2023. She's a Boarder Collie and is a super love bug, but I feel like she's insecure and a little timid so that comes out in reactivity which makes it seem like she's aggressive. I've been trying to build her confidence with some obedience and simple training, and agility and the reactivity has calmed down some but I don't believe it's anything significant. I'd say her worst triggers are other dogs and motorcycles. She sees these things and the reactivity is explosive to the point where people see her and automatically assume she's aggressive so they turn around and go the other way so she gets an automatic reward from this. I introduced a prong and established leash pressure and leash control so now I believe I have a a good foundation of yes since i was already positive reinforcement training and no positive punishment with the prong collar.I understand your concept of redirecting the dogs attention to you, and understand if you do that the dog never gets over threshold, but I feel like then she's not really learning how to actually work through those emotions. I guess I would say I don't have the knowledge and or skillset yet to help her work through the emotions and displace that energy getting back to baseline once she over threshold.
