Pulling Clean Lines...
I wanted to write a quick post in reply to @Kelly Woodgate 's comments in her intro post! Pulling clean lines takes practice. So much of it comes down to understanding pressure & the feeling of the skin vibrating. It all comes down to having a consistent speed & pressure. That does all get easier with time. I'm going to post some drawing drills to help get smooth & clean lines while drawing. That is a great place to start because you need to be able to draw clean lines first. I'd try not to sketch lines any more than you need to. Building up thicker lines you can work more in that way, but single stroke lines can show the sketch marks. Especially when using smaller needle groupings. Try to pull straight lines with your arm, rather than fingers, it gives a longer reach of stroke. Curved lines you can use your hand like a drawing compass. Keep pressure & speed even through the line & you should also test the movement first to check you can reach the line start to finish. One line at a time - try to make them perfect in one stroke. Then on to the next line! If you have questions, you're welcome to leave comments below. 🙂

I was having a little play with these the other day, but when I pull lines it always looks inconsistent
My Intro!
Welcome & thanks so much for joining us! I’m Steve Kretz, creator of this new community! I will go deeper into my reasons for starting this in a separate post, but for now I’d like to start with my own quick intro post - I’m originally from Devon in England, but relocated with my family (wife & two daughters) to Whistler in Canada around 12 years ago. I started Tattooing shortly after moving out & have been Tattooing professionally for around 10 years now. After Tattooing in many styles my first year or two, I realized my passion was in realism. I love creating digital designs using photo reference & recreating them in high detail as bold realistic Tattoos. Over this last year I’ve really been drawn to character based fantasy, mythology & animation projects. Things I want to work on & improve - You are right here! I’m so happy with everything Tattooing has provided me over my career so far. My desire now is to bring people together in this supportive space & I’ll keep working to increase the value you find here. I feel that as Tattooers we spend a lot of time working with our heads down. I believe that this community can be a really valuable space to be a part of. For myself as much as anyone else. I have lots of ideas of how to make this community great, but we’ll talk more about that later! If you’re new here, please jump in & write your own post. I’d love you to share your work, ask questions & get to know each other. My love of movies & my style of Tattooing inspired the name ‘Tattoo Superpowers’. I’d really like this to be a fun space to hang out. And I really do believe we all have our own Superpowers! Let’s RISE together!!!⚡️

Hi everybody, my name is Silvia, I am currently located in Leipzig, Germany and work in my own private studio. I specialize in color and black and gray realism pieces. My most preferred projects are animal tattoos, portraits and the human figure as well as nature scene tattoos! Ever since 2020 I’ve gone obsessed with trying to better my art skills in general - I take courses, classes, workshops and seminars all the time. Currently I am going through a sketching course (focused on perspective and gesture), after that I have a Perspective course lined up and want to take an online seminar from favorite tattoo artist - Deanna James - she specializes in baroque style tattoos, which I LOVE, as I also love baroque art immensely! I mainly struggle with posting on social media because I dislike editing videos 😂 I do like filming them tho! However I do find it somewhat hard to fill myself working when I don’t have anyone to help with that. Oh well, something is better than nothing! Here’s a few works from last year and my Instagram handle is @lcf.tattoos ( you know, like Lucifer tattoos 😁) Hope to learn lots from everybody here 🥰 If anyone is taking any courses, classes, etc, I’d loooove to know what! Let me know 🖤

My intro 🌟
Hey everyone 🙌, I’m from Wolverhampton but live in Barnstaple, North Devon (15yrs+) UK. I am a permanent makeup artist (cosmetic tattooist) and I do fine line tattoos. I absolutely love the delicate side of fineline and would also love to do a bit of micro realism. One thing I am currently working on is actually being confident with lines more so adapting to different areas of the body because I’m so used to just tattooing the face and delicate areas like brows, lips and eyeliner. But I’ve done a few different bits of training and practising techniques and I hate pulling lines, I just seem to be better as etching the line building it up rather than pulling a line, I’m ok with this as it’s the delicate work I’m wanting to do but I guess it’s not the ‘norm’ for tattooing so struggling to find my confident set up if that makes any sense at all lol. My insta/socials handle @kellyanncosmeticclinic Thanks for reading ✨
