There's a conversation happening on one of my LinkedIn posts that some of you might actually want to be in. Short version: I posted about employers looking for AI filmmakers — microdramas, UGC, ecommerce, previz, b-roll. A few people in post and VFX pushed back hard. The gist being that AI demand is a myth and the models aren't good enough for real work. And honestly, part of what they're saying is right. Nobody's finishing a feature with diffusion models. The technical complaints about res, gamut, dynamic range, spatial consistency — those are real complaints from people who know their pipeline. Where I disagree is the leap from "it doesn't work in my lane" to "it doesn't work." Anyway. I'm not asking anyone to go defend me. That's not what this is, and please don't pile on — that would make it worse, not better. But if you've got actual working experience here, especially if you come from post or VFX, your voice carries weight in that thread that mine doesn't. Someone who's done the work saying "here's where I use it and here's where I don't" is worth more than anything I can write. Link's below. Jump in if you want to. So AIFCA used to stand for "AI Filmmakers Career Agents." Now it's "AI Film Career Accelerator." Same letters. Same community. Same me. Just swapped out one word. Here's why. "Agent" sounds like I'm representing you. Like I'm the guy who calls up a studio and gets you the gig. And for a minute, that WAS kind of the plan. But that's not actually what this is. This is a community that helps you build your own career — your own profile, your own reel, your own pipeline of work. I'm not standing between you and the people hiring you. You are. "Agent" said one thing. We do another thing. So the name needed to catch up to reality. "Accelerator" is just more honest. It's a place that helps your career move faster — not a person doing the moving for you. One practical thing: the URL is changing too. Should be live in 2-3 days. If a link breaks for a hot second, that's why — not because anything's wrong. Everything else stays exactly the same. Same group, same me, same goal. Just wanted you to hear it from me first.
