🎤 VoiceOver Animation folks — Let’s Talk! 🎙️
We all got into voiceover for different reasons… 🔥 The creativity 🔥 The characters 🔥 The storytelling 🔥 Or maybe that call from the universe saying “Use your VOICE!” So I’m curious 👇 What’s ONE thing that lights you up the most about voice acting? Is it the silly voices? The confidence boost? The dream of hearing yourself in animation? Something else? Drop your answer below ⬇️ and let’s geek out together! Bonus points if you share a character voice voice memo you LOVE to perform 😜 Your voice matters, your story matters — and this community is here for ALL of it. 💛✨ #VoiceOverCommunity #FindYourVoice #AnimationVO #SpeakYourMagic #Let’sChat

I don't know why it always feels like my answer to this question seems disingenuous, but I really just want to pay it forward to the next generation and give them something fun and interesting to engage with. TV, movies, and video games played a big part in keeping me entertained growing up and I'd like the opportunity to do the same for others.

I’m Grant. I live in North Dakota and have most of my life. Even so, I’ve been interesting in voice acting since about the first time I watched Mrs. Doubtfire which I want to say was around 5 or 6 years old. Went to college for theater, took about a decade hiatus from acting, and got back into it around the pandemic. I learned about Skool watching Alex Hormozi’s content on various platforms. He has a way with words and processes that it’s really interesting to watch him break down seemingly complex concepts into easy to understand clips. Dream VO gigs would be adult animation (Williams Street, Stoopid Monkey) or video games. I’m currently working on a good deal of Webtoons content which is scratching my grounded and occasionally over-the-top character work.
Here’s a video that I use often in my coaching & is too good not to drop here
Meet Bob Bergen aka Porkey Pig. He’s been doing porky Pig along with hundreds more for over 30 years. Bob is so talented and skilled at “building” voices that Vanity Fair interviewed him in this video to show us his DOPE process. Struggling to find a voice that fits the role you’re auditioning for? Bob has some really great tips & tricks (ones I use and encourage my students to use all the time!) that will help you create the voice you feel most comfortable with based on the illustration casting provided for you. I had the opportunity to have one private lesson with Bob earlier this year and he goes deep. We spent the whole time on one character and dissecting all the clues in the script and stage directions to inform how to create a standout character that's true to the source material while still standing out from the other auditions.

@Nik B for sure. I took an entire page worth of notes since I forgot to ask ahead of time whether or not I could record the session. Lesson learned. Any other coaching sessions I'll make sure I know that going in.
