I upped the ante from a tennis ball today. Today and tomorrow are the last days to shoot before my shoulder surgery on Tuesday. Thinking about getting a Sage or something similar @ 35#-40# to start shooting when Doc and PT give me the green light to start again. Minimum in MI is 35# for whitetail, just in case I don’t make it back to my longbow @ 55# in time.

First pic is this time last year. About to make her first road trip for a 3d shoot down in kamloops. She was 6 months and I couldnt believe she got so big so fast. The second is the other day at the range. Felt like we got no puppy time. But she still is a puppy for the most part. I feel blessed to have such a good dog in my life. She brings back birds, sniffs out antlers, finds my arrows, and when she isn't doing that she's finding some other way to be the MVP.

What method do you prefer and why? I currently shoot 3 under but since we have a while before deer season, I think I might experiment a little. See what happens.

I was raised in a hunting family. I have Bowhunted with traditional gear all my life and started shooting bows when I was 3. I've been able to hunt all over North America and along the way this past 40 plus years hunting with trad gear I have learned that success is born not from tech or the latest camo but from long cold days in the woods and often- failure. Bows and arrows were always a part of my life and I was lucky to have an upbringing that emphasized time in the woods. I was able to see both the rise of Bowhunting in Ontario and the laws and regulations based on ethics & conservation formed- But - also to see them fall apart to an Industry that focused on the latest and newest tech or gadgets to bring wild game home and not the skillsets I was raised to respect and follow. The very fabric of those primitive weapon/Bowhunting seasons was based on the fact that it was harder to take game with a bow and arrow- simply that it was difficult- but there is the truth that many forgot or perhaps never learned. The Ethical Predator was created from those lessons learned all my life. I helped create this community seeing a need to bring folks from all over the world into a community that supported the old ways, from scouting, tracking & the heritage of Bowhunting I grew up with.
