I can understand from a business perspective to remain focus. However, I ahve seen over and over again, that teh market surprises you. You may be building for a specific audience and they do not respond to a product, but another group does. Or usesrs usong a product in ways you never imagined. I think it's ok to start focused- you ahve to start somewhere and learn from it- but it's important to stay nimble, be ready to adapat quick, expand as necessary and take in user feedback seriously.

Very true. This reminds me of the 10k hour rule and the example Malcolm Gladwell makes in his book of the Beatles band playing in a tiny bar in Berlin for years- This allowed them to learn their audience, find their style and gain confidence, hence the band became "The Beatles"!
