Hello From Jo-Ann
Hi everyone, I have been a writer all my life, dating back to grade 1 where I won a merit badge for 'There's a Lion Under my Bed' (My parents lost it and I would have loved to be able to read this over the years!) I am in Oakville, Ontario Canada where I live with my husband Joe, my two sons, Luca (25) and Aidan (20) and our beautiful dog Maverick. In addition, we recently sold our home and moved into my in-laws to assist them in their aging process, so safe to say, there is never a dull moment! All my writing has been for work, personal or clients and I am now stepping into my power to publish my first book- an idea that has been in my mind for over 20 years. The book is called 'The Waiting Room' and it is about a woman's complicated and estranged relationship with her bi-polar mother and a journey of love, growth, transformation, healing and all the ups and downs that come with it. The title is exactly where the entire book takes place- in a hospital waiting room as she works through the estrangement and choice of how to experience her mother's end of life. Looking forward to finally getting this out there in hopes that it resonates with those who have had complicated parental relationships and provides insight on how to not lose yourself in the midst of navigating what is not in your control. Here I go!
Hello From Jo-Ann
Sounds like a beautiful book that is ready to come into this world.
Hello! I’m a novelist and poet 👩🏽‍💻
Hello everyone! I have an MFA in creative writing from IU, so needless to say, writing is my thing. I have a number of short fiction stories published in lit journals and am currently at work on a novel loosely based on my grandmother’s challenging life in Rio as a young woman. It’s primarily literary fiction with just a touch of magical realism. I’m so close to finishing it, so I’m very excited and very motivated. I’m also a poet and have about 26,000 followers on Insta (@sol_poetria). I recently launched my own poetry community on Skool and host live workshops. I would love to connect with you! 💛

It was a Wonderful Cross-Interview Yesterday!
I really enjoyed our chat yesterday where we learned more about using our book as a stage topic and the benefits of doing it along with the hows! Thank you @Chris Hanlon! This was quite informative! And I know the ones who came enjoyed hearing about speaking on stage and about writing a book from me! Thank you and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the cross-interview. @Vasi Smith @Wolfram Grohnert @Dr. Melissa Partaka @Nikki Hillhouse AND, for the ones who missed it, we have it recorded. So, you can watch the replay here

So much useful and practical information, from both sides of telling the story.
Turn your Book into a TedX Talk
@Chris Hanlon and I have been working on a workshop, Turn your Story into an Authority, and we thought it would be best to hear from him about what you can do when your book is published. I know many of you are interested in speaking and getting your story out into the world in different ways! 🥳 So, we’ll be doing a cross interview where I interview Chris about this topic since he’s been coaching people to do speeches for TedX for over 12 years. Then, he’ll interview me and I’ll explain more on turning a speech into a book! 📕 I highly suggest to come to this call! 📱 There’s a lot to gain from it and it will give you a little taste of our upcoming workshop on August 6th!  The Cross interview will be on July 27th at 9pm CET (check your local timezone). You can find this in the calendar. Who’s coming?!

Why Some People Stay With Us
Think about the last book you read. 📕 A podcast 🎤 A conversation 🗣️ Or a talk that stayed with you 🤩 Was it because you learned something new? Maybe. But I'd guess there was also a story. A moment that helped the lesson come alive. That's the part we remember. Stories don't replace information. They give it meaning. And that's why storytelling matters so much. It’s that bridge that connects people. And it’s a way to help people feel something. ✨ I'd love to hear yours. What's a story you'll never forget, and why has it stayed with you?

Sometimes I enjoy reading through the comments in the Amazon reviews. Some of those people are the most colorful writers. They bring a humor that you can feel, like you're truly experiencing what their saying.
