Welcome

Big bulls are looking so pretty right now! It’s really a wonder of the world that these antlers will be fully grown by September

Hey, random but I was reading about elk this time of year and it’s actually pretty wild… 1. In April, their antlers can grow close to an inch a day. That’s not a typo. 2. That fuzzy covering on them (called velvet) is full of blood vessels and nerves, so they’re actually soft and sensitive right now. 3. The growth starts when testosterone is low, then later in the year it rises and shuts the growth off and hardens them. 4. They eat like crazy this time of year basically loading up on nutrients to build bone that fast. 5. And the kicker… those antlers are real bone, and they grow them, use them, and shed them every single year. Pretty incredible stuff when you think about it.
