Challenge No 2. (Prize Money Increase)
In order to get you guys more motivated I'm doubling he prize money to £200 In order to qualify you must answer the weekly challenges, even if you say, "I'm not sure". In this weeks challenge I want you Dads to do the following: Let me know in the comments below what about your old life do you miss or will you miss the most after having a child? I'll start: I used to love dating and going out to pick her girls, I haven't missed it at all until my missus told me she was pregnant. That night I literally had a dream I was back in those days, it's like my subconscious wanted one more big night out, like my imiginary stag do. I find myself fighting back the thoughts of old flames etc. Of course this strictly confidential. @Malcolm Harris @Jamie Richardson @Richard Makin-Taylor @Jaime Dimbelo @Grant Gardiner @Gareth Davies @Jason Basel @Matt M

The thing I miss the most about being childless is the freedom to go out and pursue hobbies without feeling guilty that my missus is at home with the kids. I also miss having quiet evenings after work with my wife, but its like work ends and then my second shift starts at 5pm, and then I'm completely exhausted by 8pm and wanting to go to bed.

@Richard Makin-Taylor Every parent I speak to says, don’t live your life around your kids … your kids should fit in with your life. That means, if you are going to take a spontaneous weekend away, don’t let your baby hold you back. Just book the holiday and go for it. The spontaneity is something that you should be able to keep.
Anyone living in South Africa?
Can anyone share their experiences of having gone through or currently going through the processes of pregnancy in South Africa? Navigating health insurance has been hella confusing. Any advice is super welcome. Maybe someone has some vital lessons they have learnt while navigating all the rules of health insurance.

@Richard Makin-Taylor PS - I am not really able to comment on home births, or birthing clinics - two alternate options which are becoming quite popular. We did it the conventional way i.e. at a hospital and my wife had 2 high-risk pregnancies which both resulted in planned c-sections.

@Richard Makin-Taylor To understand the costs involved, get a quote from your health provider and speak to Discovery or your broker to find out what will be covered. That leaves you with enough time to plan financially for any excess that needs to be paid out of pocket!

I want to be less reactive and focus on responding calmly instead of reacting immediately and emotionally. I also want to criticise less and focus on learning rather than mistakes.

@Douglas Robson You should try living in my shoes for a day, bluntness comes naturally! It has its disadvantages - Some people don't gel with me. But that's okay. I don't need fake people in my life haha
Your First Challenge!!
What is one triat you hope your child inherits and one trait you hope they don't! Can be a anything, serious, lighthearted, silly. Your choice! For me: I hope they have my thirst for knowledge, I hope they don't have my over relience on others for validation. @Jason Basel @Jaime Dimbelo @Joe T @Gareth Davies @Grant Gardiner

A trait I hope my kids inherit: I hope my kids inherit my determination to succeed. When I was 15 I picked up music as a hobby and contrary to my expectations I mastered it. I realised I could achieve anything I put my head to. A trait I hope my kids do not inherit: I hope my kids do not inherit my laziness. Discipline and discomfort do not come naturally to me. I was never raised in a disciplined home and was left to figure things out. It has taken me 32 years to realise how damaging my lack of discipline has been.
Any stoics in the house?
Hey team! One thing that has helped me massively dealing with life is the philosophy of stoicism. I’ve made several courses on it now and I wondered if anyone has any interest in learning about them. If so I’ll add them to the classroom. Here are some banger quotes so you know what they are all about. 1: "True happiness is... to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future." 2: We suffer more in imagination 3: It is not death that a man should fear, but never beginning to live

Never really thought much about stoicism. I have always worn my heart on my sleeve and have a bad habit of complaining about pain and hardship. I see the value in changing this habit.
