3 free AI models worth trying
You don't need to pay for anything to start coding with AI right now. Here's what you can try in the free tier on OpenRouter. 1. ππ°πžπ§πŸ‘ π‚π¨ππžπ« πŸ’πŸ–πŸŽπ Use this when you want to actually code. Paste the script, paste the error, and let it help you get unstuck. 2. π†πžπ¦π¦πš πŸ’ πŸ‘πŸπ Use this when the problem is visual. Screenshot your Blender UI, render, node setup, or error, and ask what’s going wrong. 3. 𝐍𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧 πŸ‘ 𝐔π₯𝐭𝐫𝐚 Use this when you need to read a lot before coding. Great for understanding docs or a large codebase, but I’d be careful letting it write final code. Which of these have you already used?

> Espacially it is very annoying that it very often changes the names of variables or parameters, removes the type hints, removes my comments, inserts comments in German although I tell it to do that in English... I really think you should try a few other models just to compare how they perform. Even better try an agent where you can define persistent instructions for exactly these issues, such as 1 don't rename variables unless explicitly requested 2 don't remove type hints 3 don't remove existing comments 4 only write comments in English

> but you definitely need programming experience on your own to correct the code where it is needed, to structure it in a readable way, to improve it where the AI inserts for example a lot of superfluous variables and comments, and so on. πŸ’― the more programming and software engineering knowledge you have the lest time and money you will have to spend on projects when using AI
Build a Blender Add-on Using a 100% FREE AI Agent
Using a 100% free AI agent inside VS Code, I built a Blender Python script from scratch, turned it into an operator + UI panel, and packaged it as a proper Blender extension, no paid AI tools required.

Set Up Free Coding AI in VS Code
Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹ I just created a video showing how to set up free coding AI models in VS Code using OpenRouter. Video can be found here: https://www.skool.com/cgpython/classroom/3eeec317?md=63db098b9fbf42fba6441a24e17e1c99 In the video, I walk through: - Creating an OpenRouter account - Generating an API key - Signing in with GitHub - Connecting OpenRouter models inside VS Code - Selecting and pinning free models This is a great option if you want to experiment with AI-assisted coding in VS Code without paying for premium models right away. There are some daily limits on the free models, but they're still useful for testing, learning, and smaller coding tasks. If you have any questions while setting it up drop them here, and I'll be happy to help!

@Zbyszek Pietras OpenRouter lets you try different AI models, so you are not limited to a single provider.

Hey @Felipe Lima ! Great to have another Blender artist here. Starting with Geometry Nodes and moving into Python makes a lot of sense. Python is amazing when you want to turn repeated steps into tools.

Hey @Nicolas Marques Welcome ! πŸ™Œ Seven years of Blender is a fantastic starting point. Once you start combining that knowledge with Python, you'll be surprised how many parts of a workflow can be automated and optimized.
Keyframes in python
Is there a way that i can access already existing keyframe information of an object or especially a bone in blender’s script editor πŸ€”

and this should work before Blender 5 (for example, with Blender 4)
