December 15 – Peace When the Answer Is “No”
Unanswered prayer can feel like a direct hit to your peace. You fasted, begged, believed—and the door still closed. The thing you asked for didn’t happen. Deep down you wonder, “Does prayer even work, or is God just going to do what He wants anyway?”
Here’s the hard truth: God’s “no” or “not yet” is never careless. The cross proves He will not withhold what is truly good for you. Sometimes His mercy looks like blocking what you’re convinced you need.
Jesus Himself wrestled in Gethsemane: “If it be possible, let this cup pass from me… nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” That’s the path to peace—desire surrendered to trust.
Today, take one prayer that seems unanswered and lay it back in His hands. Tell Him exactly what you want—and then release how and when it happens.
Let’s pray together,
Father, You know the prayers that feel ignored. I confess I’ve doubted Your goodness when I didn’t get my way. I bring You this desire again. Align my heart with Yours. Give me grace to accept Your “no,” “yes,” or “wait” with trust. Let Your peace replace my frustration as I rest in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
“If it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” (Matthew 26:39b, KJV)
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield… no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” (Psalm 84:11, NIV)
